Michael "Kid" Davis performs with The Bullets at the Blue Parrot Bar & Grille in Wilmington, as they do every Thursday night at 9.

It's 11 on a Thursday night and most bars in Wilmington are about as sleepy as the city's residents.

But as you enter the Blue Parrot Bar & Grille, a party scene that would make any bar owner happy unfolds: A crowd is swing dancing and downing shots as a rockabilly band is unloading a full-tilt performance of Louis Jordan's "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie."

Soon, the band's guitarist has left his spot behind the microphone and has climbed onto a dinner table, giving a few surprised music fans an up-close-and-personal look at his fingers as they fly across his guitar's neck.

"The band is The Bullets and the guitarist is their leader, Michael "Kid" Davis, a veteran local musician who lives in Bellefonte.

Even though the band has been around for nearly 30 years, The Bullets draw a large and raucous crowd in their 20s every Thursday for their weekly concerts at the Blue Parrot, at the corner of Union and Sixth streets, in the city's Little Italy neighborhood.

The Bullets deliver some of the wildest and most entertaining shows Delaware has to offer, especially on their home turf at the Parrot, with Davis' retro cool guitar work meshing perfectly with Bobby Bloomingdale on stand-up bass and Walter Epting behind the drums."
