Setup and operate a wide variety of machine tools such as drills, mills, lathes and metal working equipment. Inspect, repair and rebuild a variety of machine components and tooling using metal:working machine operations involving close tolerances. Reports non:conformances concerning product safety, quality and legality and adjusts where applicable to remedy.
Day:to:Day Role::/h1:
:Comply with good manufacturing practices (GMP) as required.
:Comply with Dart Containers policies and procedures.
:Set up and operate conventional, special purpose and numerical control machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machine:ability of material and layout techniques.
:Ability to select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills lathes, jog borders, grinders, and shapers.
:Fabricate parts using standard machinist equipment including lathe, grinders and drill presses. Operate Die Handler press to test completed dies.
:Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.
:Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, the sequence of operations and setup requirements. Measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
:Develop specifications from general description and draw or sketch a part or product to be fabricated. Capable of visualizing finished product and communicate potential design errors or issues.
:Inspect and test equipment visually (using electrical and electronic equipment) and auditory to detect mechanical malfunction. Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required. Verify conformance of finished workpiece to operational specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
:Dismantle defective machines/equipment and tooling. Diagnose repair needs and repair, install new or rebuilt parts. Reassemble, setup and test machines via trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges and gauge blocks.
:Will perform other duties as assigned such as emergency repairs for the plant as needed. Team player who can multitask.
:Attend seminars/classes as periodically held and attend all safety meetings and training.
Core Skills and Qualifications::/h1:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
:Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on:going communications about safety and quality issues.
:Ability to work overtime as needed.
:Ability to work weekends as needed.
:Apprenticeship program certification preferred.
:Three (3) years related experience in a manufacturing environment using lathes, grinders and drill presses required.
:General computer skills required.
