Mealey Funeral Homes and Crematory, a family-owned firm located in Wilmington, DE, is searching for a dedicated licensed funeral director to join our team. Mealey Funeral Homes has been in business since 1912 and serves over 350 families per year. With a staff that is still comprised of many members of the Mealey family, our funeral home is searching for a funeral director who shares our passion and continued dedication to the families of Delaware. As a part of the Mealey team, you will be involved in all aspects of funeral service and interact directly with our families. We are looking for a long-term fit with a candidate that demonstrates a strong work ethic, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:

Provide professional care and preparation of the deceased including: Embalming, cosmetics, dressing, sanitary care, casketing etc.
Meet with client families to arrange appropriate and necessary funeral services
Be knowledgeable of all funeral home services, prices, merchandise, etc.
Coordinate, direct, and manage funeral services in a variety of public and religious settings
Work with fellow funeral directors and funeral assistants to ensure that preparation schedules and funeral services run smoothly
Oversee the timely completion of necessary paperwork and client data entry
Work on-call/first call in rotation with other funeral directors

Job Requirements

Degree from an accredited mortuary school
Successful completion of the national board exam
Current Delaware Funeral Director’s License or the ability to obtain one
A current Delaware Limited Lines Preneed Insurance License or ability to obtain one within 90 days
Preferably 3-5+ years experience
Capable of heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling
Capable of working on one’s feet for extended periods of time
