The Staff Dentist is a member of the clinical team and works closely with the Chief Medical Officer to integrate primary medical care with oral health services. The Staff Dentist is responsible for primary dental services for patients of the healthcare center. All activities will be carried out within the scope of organizational policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors and under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Responsibilities: Implement dental department policies, protocols, and procedures in compliance with the most current, accepted professional standards, including those of The Joint Commission Assist in the supervision and performance evaluation of dental staff according to established guidelines, as assigned Coordinate operations of the dental program with other community health center projects and clinical staff members Provide primary dental health care, including emergency and palliative dental care, prevention of dental and oral disease, diagnosis and treatment of dental and oral disease, general restorative services, and minor oral surgery Record patient-dentist interactions as they occur in patients dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, condition of the patient, and care or treatment received Educate patients and clinical staff on the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention Participate in WFH quality improvement programs and contribute to the development of the dental portion of the annual Health Care Plan Participate in WFH dental health promotion and disease prevention activities in the community Participate in staff education and professional development activities including continuing education credit requirements to maintain licensure and maintenance of Basic Life Support certification Perform other duties as required to meet the goal of providing comprehensive primary health care services Adhere to policies and procedures Participate in committees, advocacy and outreach efforts as requested Other duties as assigned Experience and Skills: 1. Graduate of an accredited school of dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine 2. Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Delaware with unrestricted prescription privileges 3. Excellent written and oral communication skills 4. Commitment to under-served patient populations and public health issues 5. Basic Life Support certification 6. Ability to travel between worksites as needed 7. Excellent interpersonal skills, including friendliness, empathy, patience, kindness, politeness and helpfulness
