We are a 24 hour small animal hospital nestled in Lewes Delaware, near the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay. We have just completed an expansion project to keep up with our clients’ need for progressive full life health care.
We pride ourselves in serving people through their pets. We provide comprehensive preventative medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dental care, and rehabilitative services. We have a CO2 surgical laser, covedien force triad ligature system, endoscopy, ultrasound, digital radiology, dental radiology, and in-house IDEXX laboratory
Our hospital staff consists of 10 veterinarians, and a wonderful support staff including licensed veterinary technicians.
We are looking for an associate to join our team and help us serve the community in our 24 hour hospital.
Benefits include
Pro/sal compensation with a base of $90,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

The associate veterinarian works under the guidance and supervision of the owners and/or the hospital administrator. The associate veterinarian is responsible for using any and all resources available to provide quality care to patients of Savannah Animal Hospital.
As a senior member of the Savannah Animal Hospital Staff, it is expected that you will support the goals and philosophy of the hospital and set an example for other staff members. You will help support our mission if you:

to perform complete and thorough examinations of animals to detect and determine diseases and/or injuries.
to thoroughly educate/inform clients on problems noted on
to diagnosis and prescribe
to complete fee sheets for technicians
to formulate medical care plans
to communicate medical care plans to owners in an understandable manner and to obtain permission for
to perform preventative healthcare that upholds Savannah Animal Hospital's Pillar
to have knowledge and ability to operate diagnostic equipment
to inform owners of diagnostic test results in a timely fashion
to educate the public when appropriate regarding zoonotic diseases
to help in the training and supervision of veterinary assistants and technician
to educate technicians on treatments and procedures needed for patients and provide technicians and receptionist with complete discharge instructions
to monitor and follow-up on procedures completed by technicians
to assist technicians on procedures as needed
to work professionally with the other doctors, showing professional courtesy and respect
to fill out records completely and to communicate future plans for patients in the records
to bring problems relating to staff, procedures, equipment, facilities, management, to the attention of the practice manager and/or the owners
to prepare patients for discharge by ensuring the patient record is complete, the patient is prepared for departure , written discharge instructions are prepared and appropriate follow-up recall and/or appointments are made. When possible participate in the discharge of patients you have been the primary veterinarian providing services
to ensure prescriptions and discharge instructions are correct
with the assistance of the technical team, prepare and administer anesthetics, perform surgery , and supervise monitoring of patients during surgery and recovery
humanly euthanize animals when it has been mutually agreed upon by the patients owner or agent
to provide guidance and leadership to the healthcare team that will positively influence the level of care and services provided to the clients and patients at Savannah Animal Hospital
assess the hospital facilities for cleanliness, odor, trash, etc. and report any problems or deficiencies to practice manager or owners


scientific and mathematic knowledge that is applicable to veterinary medicine
knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction
knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat disease, injuries, and deformities including treatment alternatives , drug properties and interactions, and preventative healthcare measures
knowledge of the English language, including meaning and spelling of works, rules of composition, and grammar
knowledge of the principal and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services
ability to actively listen by giving full attention to what people (clients and staff) are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking appropriate questions at the appropriate times, and not interrupting
high level of reading comprehension
to identify problems, to review related information to evaluate, and to implement solutions
ability to speak clearly and confidently to convey information effectively
efficient management of time
