Start your career search today.Position Summary:This position requires the technical and business expertise in all phases of the development cycle. The incumbent will work independently while being given general direction and shall provide technical and programmatic expertise on a variety of project types and project sizes. The technical architect shall engage the business and technical community in the formulation and definition of project and system scope, objectives and requirements. The incumbent shall provide business teams with expertise and assists users in defining needs. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering items such as software limitations, resource capacity and budget limitations, operating time. The incumbent shall gather requirements and prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. The architect will leverage their deep system development knowledge in a variety of projects and activities such as leading policy and governance discussions related to Business Solutions data.Key Responsibilities: Business Systems Analysis/Business/Technical Design 50% Gathers, documents and analyzes business and system requirements for a variety of project sizes and translates the analysis into business / system designs while meeting specified business requirements. May work individually or with other systems and business analysts to evaluate the impact of automating a business activity between sourcing systems and Business Solutions applications. Responsible for key documents/artifacts as they relate to the project.Maintains technical knowledge of such things as current system integration, performance issues, and flexibility of technical tools available. Will work with other technical areas within Information Technology (eg Infrastructure, InfoSec, etc.) as well as external technical support organizations such as SAS, SAP, and IBM as needed.Assists with the planning and designing of tests for projects involved and coordinating with testing teams as needed. Responsible for identifying scenarios from all affected business functions and detailing their affect.Compliance / Data Quality Analysis / Special Projects 15%Participates and provides leadership in special projects and assigned committees. Performs research requiring a blend of technical and business expertise including the investigation of best practices, standardization and procedural changes impacting Business Solutions' supported applications and or adoption of alternative technologies and tools.Systems-Tools Analysis and Planning 15%Work with various members of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Solutions team under the direction of the Business Solutions director to identify opportunities to leverage existing tools and functionality to bring more efficiency to enterprise reporting users. May entail working with existing vendors and Information Technology teams to review documentation and put forward recommendations on usage.Problem Resolution and Management 10%Drive the research and communication of key issues to resolution. Researches or participates in problem investigation of a system, business, or technical nature. Examples may include answering audit questions, researching complex production problems and assisting user with technical issues.System Administration 10%Responsible for the planning and development of technical support surrounding operating systems capabilities including installation and on-going administration. Manages the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of COTS software programs which are supported by Business Solutions.Determines hardware compatibility and / or influences hardware design. Proposes and implements systems enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the systems. Works with team to monitor usage and performance. Manages the documenting of the configuration of the system and troubleshooting any reported problems. EDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree InformationTechnology/Computer Technology or related field and/or equivalent work experience.EXPERIENCE 5-10 years of experience in application support, development, system administration, or data warehousing5- 10 years of hands on experience with various business intelligence tools such as SAS, SAP BI42- 5 years of hands on experience with relational databases such as Netezza or SQL Server OTHER HELPFUL EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE2-3 years of related work experience designing / developing application solutions KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Ability to understand business problems and translate these problems into automated and non-automated solutionsKnowledge of programming and system debuggingPeople management skills, including the ability to lead, counsel, lead, and motivate staff in a matrix environmentStrong technical skills required to ensure technical solutions are efficient and optimalStrong written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated ability to successfully manage in a matrix style environment with little direction from senior staff membersKnowledge and support of departmental, industry standards and guidelinesExperience with change management practices and standards in a production environment.Knowledge of data administration principles #LI-SW1 EEO Employer Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity.
