Position Summary: This position will demonstrate a solid understanding of Sallie Mae systems and business processes and requirements for new products/platforms/systems including system enhancements across multiple Sallie Mae Bank operational areas including some third party vendors. The incumbent works with many areas of the company to understand business processes and to develop test plans for system changes to ensure the development and execution of a thorough User Acceptance test plan (both positive and negative testing) of both new functionality and regression testing of related existing functions. The incumbent will participate in defining system requirements and review project and technical documents to develop and author Test Plans and Test Cases for User Acceptance Testing. They will perform the end to end testing of system changes resulting from system enhancements, new products and production fixes. They will prepare and present the changes/enhancements to the business and training teams to assist with the end user training process. They will support the release implementation of the changes, which are outside of regular business hours, to ensure systems are operational and functioning as expected. They will provide post-implementation support and post release verification (PRV) and assist in defect resolution testing as appropriate. Key Responsibilities: User Acceptance Testing, Operational and Statistical Support- 50% Assess scope of testing for each project and release to support resource projections for each delivery. Represent the test team on test planning and turnover meetings to ensure timelines for testing completion are aligned. Review and translate business and technical documents to create User Acceptance Test Plans and Test Cases. Conduct review meetings with the project and business stakeholders and seek input and approval of test plans and test cases. Execute User Acceptance Testing to meet defined execution milestones. Communicate to management any systems issues so the business is prepared for potential impacts to their operations or to external customers. Identify and fully document all bugs discovered during test execution and communicate details of bugs on testing calls. Support management in the review and approval of bug deferrals and serve as subject matter expert to identify workarounds and risks associated to bugs that are recommended for deferral. Serve as a resource to the user community regarding system issues and account resolution. Work with the business areas to identify short term and/or long term workarounds that are the least disruptive to operations and most effective. Work with operations staff when processing issues are identified to provide assistance on large remediation processes/projects that are undertaken. Lead/coordinate/develop testing resources during test execution phase Business Analysis- 30% Engages appropriate stakeholders to elicit, define, and accurately translate business requests into requirements, Test Plans and Test Cases. Provides instructional guidance for project requirements to operational areas within the department. Apply critical and strategic thinking while developing solution alternatives that achieve the value expectations of the business areas. Facilitate meetings with business stakeholders to review requirements, capture priorities, and ensure all requirements are understood and documented. Provide subject matter expertise in operations and systems enhancements. Prepare and present the changes/enhancements to the business and training teams to assist with the end user training process. Participates in release and post implementation validation activities to ensure the solution implemented meets the business's/customer's expectations. Technical Analysis & Support- 15% Identify data needs for full end to end test execution. Report bugs via written analysis and problem tickets. Follow processes to assist in the identification and analysis of system issues and problems. Other Duties as Assigned- 5% Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or other related field and/or equivalent work experience Experience: 3 years of experience in the student loan or consumer lending industry or comparable experience 3 years testing experience (or equivalent) preferred UAT testing experience in Agile, Waterfall, or both methodologies Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication and documentation skills including written, verbal and presentation skills Ability to meet stringent deadlines Ability to simultaneously manage and organize multiple tasks Ability to plan, organize and work with minimal supervision Ability to recognize/analyze/resolve system and procedural problems Excellent analytical skills and problem solving ability Ability to make recommendations and decisions independently Ability to perform well under pressure Working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall modes of delivery preferred Ability to lead / coordinate the work of others Other: Ability to work across business and technology areas Ability to work across all levels of management Must be able to work independently Ability to travel occasionally
