Summary The Controller will act as an effective business partner to the leadership team of QPS, LLC and will provide timely and accurate financial data to support the company in achieving its strategic goals. The controller will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting and finance functions within QPS, LLC. S/He will be a recognized leader, in charge of managing and developing a medium sized team with an interest in developing human capital to excel and instill a customer service minded organization. The Controller is also expected to be an agent of change, implementing best-in-class procedures and designing effective business processes that meet business needs. The Controller will be involved in supporting the company's expected future growth by managing complex issues within his functional area of expertise, and be involved in long-term planning. Essential Functions | Leads the monthly financial close cycle, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements conforming with US GAAP, including responsibility for thorough analysis and review of the company's divisional income statements and balance sheet | Responsible for overseeing transactional accounting, including, but not limited to, preparation of journal entries, maintenance of prepaid amortization schedules, fixed assets, accruals, reserves, intercompany transactions, and account reconciliations | Technically adept in all areas of financial accounting, with emphasis on revenue recognition practices, performs technical accounting research as necessary to ensure rigorous compliance with US GAAP | Oversees all elements of the procure to pay, and order to cash transactional accounting cycles | Develops and implements policies, procedures and controls to protect company assets and ensure accuracy of and reliance on financial reporting | Oversees the preparation of the budget and forecasting processes, including the dissemination of internal management reports and preparation of management presentations | In charge of financial review and proper explanation of results. Understands variables impacting profitability and is able to interpret and synthetize large amounts of data, and establish action plans | Proactively manage the business needs by providing insight and analysis that helps business leaders make informed decisions | Identify and successfully launch and project manage cost saving initiatives | Oversees cash flow management and forecasting, including preparation of rolling cash forecasts. | Establishes appropriate business practices in the AR and AP areas to maximize cash flow | Proactive leader and effective coach, committed to the development and engagement of the team | Develops and (re)designs effective business processes leading to operational efficiencies and balanced workflows | Demonstrates expertise in the utilization of the accounting system and assists in the identification, design and implementation of alternatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness of transaction processing and financial report/analysis | Establishes and maintains a sound control environment that preserves the integrity of all systems, processes and data, ensuring accuracy of financial records, proper authorization of transactions and appropriate safeguarding of the company's assets | Leads the coordination and communication with external financial auditors on accounting matters and ensure year-end audit timetables are adhered to | Assist with special projects, analyses and presentations, as needed | Performs other duties as assigned Competencies ("soft skills", traits, behaviors - ie, adaptability, analytical thinking, tenacity, initiative, results orientation) | Analytical Thinking | Thoroughness | Critical Information Seeking | Efficiency Orientation | Results Orientation | Independence | Rational Persuasion Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (ie, knowledge of GLP regulations, operation of lab equipment, mathematical ability) | Solid experience in preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. | Experience implementing best-in-class accounting practices and designing effective business processes | Strong knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems | Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications, especially more advanced Excel features such as pivot tables | Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and problem-resolution skills | Strong organizational development skills | Effective team builder | Agent of change, with the desire to drive change and build a can-do, continuous improvement mentality | Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills. | Ability to work and interact with departments and employees from all levels in the organization. | Capacity to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast paced and changing environment Education / Experience (minimum degree level and/or minimum number of years experience - including field of study and/or experience) | Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with an MBA or CPA certification | Minimum of 7 years of financial management experience, including 3 years of public accounting experience, and demonstrating progressive experience in a financial controller or accounting role | Minimum of 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience QPS, LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
